The City of Burnaby is located directly east of Vancouver. It was originally incorporated in 1892 and was officially established as a city in 1992. The city designates 25% of its land to parks and open spaces and it impressively has one of the highest park land to citizen ratio in North America!
Burnaby is the third most populated city in BC with 232,755 residents with a 4.3% increase since 2011 according to Burnaby’s 2016 Census Data. Burnaby is divided into four quadrants – SW, SE, NE, NW – with the South West quadrant, which is home to Metrotown Town Centre being the largest in the city.
Each quadrant offers its residents their own complete communities with town centres that provide a full range of amenities, accessible rapid transit and bike routes.
Located on the south shore of Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River to the south, Burnaby is bordered by East Vancouver to the west and New Westminster to the southeast and Coquitlam to the east and Port Moody to the northeast.
